New Item: News Current Events Intro

I have a new item in the portfolio: 'News Current Events Intro.' This track is an intense, driving musical opener for hard news, current events or current affairs programming. Add dramatic flair to your news-oriented podcast or broadcast. To sample this item, check out the video below/

New Items Online: July 12, 2018

I've added three items to my Pond5 portfolio, and this is the first place I'm announcing it.

The first item is titled "Dramatic Sorrow". It features a plaintive classical guitar with lush strings, woodwinds and percussion accents. It's great for conveying sadness in dramas or documentaries. Here's an excerpt.

Also new is "Ambient Tension Builder". This one features reverb-drenched percussion, synth noises and dissonant strings for ratcheting up suspense and anxiety. It builds to a sudden stop cliffhanger, which is available separately as a stinger. Check out this excerpt:

I normally post these items as "pipeline" items, but the curation process was so fast I didn't have time. Nevertheless, please keep an eye on this blog, as I'm likely to put news out here before anyplace else.

Excelsior: Volume Two On The Way

Just released!
I've uploaded Excelsior: Volume Two. It's now officially making its way through the release process via DistroKid. I'm planning to put together a YouTube album cover video shortly. In the meantime, if you'd like to be the first on your block to hear it on Spotify, go to this link:

You can also access the pre-save link now from my home page.

What's Happening: Week of June 25, 2018

After a lot of consideration, I've decided to limit my upcoming EP release Excelsior: Volume Two to just three tracks, and these will be:

Ascending
Hyper Efficient
For The Win

My planned release date is this Friday, June 29, 2018. Don't be surprised, though, if I debut some sort of preview on YouTube before then.

Meanwhile, I'm also beginning to plan for the release of my second full-length album, Extasis, near the end of the year (probably sometime in November). The style of this release will be more like my first album Circadia. If anything it will be more ambient and less rhythmic in its approach. I'm still mulling over track lists for the album and I may create new tracks in the run-up to the release. I also plan to release Extasis through CDBaby rather than Distrokid. Please stay tuned.

Meanwhile, there's nothing new in the stock music pipeline, but my featured item this week is Heroic Intro (30 Second). This is a stirring 30 second piece for full orchestra with percussion that's perfect for dramatic or patriotic podcasts (especially in the US with Independence Day upon us). I hope you'll check it out.

And that's it for now. I may decide to drop some music from EV2 before the "official" release date, so stay sharp for a chance to be the first on your block (or country or planet) to hear it. Take care.

In The Pipeline, June 13, 2018: New Intros and Collections

I have two new items (with variations) in my Pond5 pipeline as of today. The first is another corporate podcast intro. This one is a little more uptempo and has a higher energy level than the others (in my opinion, anyway), and can be a terrific opener for your motivational projects, too. It has four versions: a :30, :15. bumper/stinger and loop. Here's a preview of the 30-second version:

The second candidate is a blues rock intro (really just a riff) that's down and dirty and based on the old Bo Diddley beat. It has three versions -- a :30, a :15 and a bumper/stinger (no loop for this one). Here's a sample:

That's not all . . .
Assuming all goes well and these items are approved, I plan to include them in two new collections I'm rolling out. I now have so many items in my podcast intro music collection (over 200 now) that it's probably unwieldy for prospective clients (like you, I hope!) to browse through them all. So, I'm planning to group similar intros into their own collections to make it easier, starting with rock podcast intros,
and corporate podcast intros.
I plan to support the rollout with YouTube video samplers of both collections. Keep an eye here and on my Twitter for updates as we go.

Announcing: New Six Second Bumper Music Collection

I'm pleased to announce a new collection of music clips edited specifically for six second bumper ads of the type that are gaining popularity on YouTube. These are special versions, including from some of my best selling work, that I've cut down to run in six seconds. No further editing is needed; just plug the audio into your project and go.

I'm starting with fifteen items in different styles, including rock, pop (corporate), cinematic (epic), kid and family friendly, and electronic. I plan to revisit more of my prior work to evaluate for editing to the six second length. In addition, going forward I intend to make future bumpers or logos I write as variations of new pieces conform to the six second length as well. Here's a sample.

Like what you hear? Please check out the complete collection.

New In The Pipeline: February 28, 2018

I have new production music items now waiting in curation at Pond5.

The first new item is yet another intro for my collection of podcast music intros. This one is called "Retro Horn Band Intro." I created and uploaded four versions: a full (30-second), shorter (14--second), outro (4-second), and a looped version. This would be a great high-energy music choice to intro your comedy or topical podcast, broadcast or vlog. Check it out:

The second item in the pipeline is a plaintive music background I call "Wistful Reverie." It's very sad and mournful, but also has a warmth and sweetness to it.

Check back here and on my Twitter feed for updates as to if and when both these items are available to license.

What's Happening: Week of October 9, 2017

We're one week closer to the holidays, and I have some decisions to make.

First, in case you missed it, earlier this week I introduced a new stock music track at Pond5. Quiet Intensity is sort of ambient but also energetic. The idea I had when I was writing it was to help tell stories of underdogs, unsung heroes, and characters or teams that don't give up. It's available to license royalty-free, and if you're telling that kind of story I hope you'll check it out.

I'm still thinking about revamping my YouTube channel and getting rid of most of my stock music videos. The only problem is that it's time consuming to delete over 100 videos (even if almost no one is watching them).

If you need scary Halloween music for last-minute creative projects, there's still time to license something from my collection.

Starting in the next week I'll be making a bigger push to promote my Christmas stock music. I also hope to firm up plans for my instrumental winter/holiday single "Snow Globe." The current track is over 5 minutes long and I'm thinking about editing it down to something in the 3-4 minute range. It's kind of atmospheric and has lots of sleigh bells (of course!)  but I'm worried that the current length is a little boring.

I also want to settle on cover art for the track (something with snow, of course). Finally, I'm trying to decide if I want to release it through Distrokid or CD Baby. If I go through CD Baby it would cost 15 bucks in all, but it stays released forever. With Distrokid I have to cough up 20 bucks a year, and if none of my releases ever break through I may decide I want to pull the plug someday/ More on that later in the year.

Finally, I've decided I'm going to sign up some of my stuff, especially things from AudioJungle, with AdRev, so I can potentially monetize them through YouTube. I won't do this with anything I have through Pond5, and especially not my podcast intros. But I see the AudioJungle stuff as fair game. Also, I want to have a chance to monetize future chillout or electronic music releases that I'm not licensing through Pond5 or AJ. Stay tuned to find out how that turns out.

And that's the latest from here. I hope your week is a good one.

Announcing Association With DistroKid, New Excelsior Series of Singles

After much consideration, I signed up with DistroKid this week. For those who may be unfamiliar with DistroKid, it's a music distribution system that allows artists to get their music on iTunes, Spotify and other major sites for a flat fee of $19.99 per year for a single artist (like me). I may have to do some extra stuff to ensure that my work is fully monetized on certain platforms like YouTube, and I'm looking into that. Overall, though, the ability to release unlimited singles seems to be the way to go in this new era of streaming.

With that in mind, I'm preparing to launch a new series of singles. Over the coming months I plan to release some of my favorite motivational and inspirational stock music tracks for personal consumption via download or stream. I'll be doing this at (I hope) fairly frequent intervals, and plan to call the series "Excelsior," which means "upward" or "higher." I hope you'll add these singles to your personal list to inspire you to persevere. to believe and achieve. My first single from the series will be "Quest For Transformation." Stay tuned for more information and to find out when it's available on your favorite download or streaming platform.
