New Controller and More Tracks on the Way!

I managed to scrounge together a few dollars to buy a new MIDI keyboard controller. It's a Korg Microkey 37, and I've greatly enjoying working with it the last couple of days. Before I got the Microkey I was literally typing in all the parts on the computer keyboard. Now I can play them in with, and although I'm hardly a virtuoso (I can barely play!) it does give the music a more natural, human feel. I will admit that I'm still going back and digitally tweaking a few things here and there when it gets a little TOO natural and human!

I've already created a couple of pieces with the new controller. One is a blues shuffle, and the other is a bright uptempo little piece with a chamber orchestra feel. I hope to post links to them in the next couple of weeks, but if you're too impatient to wait, you can check for them ("Blues Shuffle #1" and "Quiet Motivation") in my portfolio on Pond5 as soon as they pass curation.

Here's a slow smooth jazz groove with a muted trumpet over a rhythm section of Rhodes electric piano, bass and electronic drums. Great for urban scenes.

April 16 Update

I put together a new track last night that is similar in style to 1980s progressive pop, most similar to Genesis. I expect to post it here in the next week or two. Also, I got a small payday from Pond5 yesterday (they pay on the 15th of each month). Thanks again to everyone who has bought my tracks.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the events at the Boston Marathon yesterday.

A Bittersweet Flute Piece

Here is a short piece of music with a bittersweet flute melody and an accompaniment in the style of a Baroque or late-Renaissance continuo (harpsichord and cello). You could use this in a period piece or to convey a sense of mixed sadness and sweetness in your media projects.

April 12 Updates

I just completed and uploaded a couple of very short pieces designed to be introductions for things like short documentaries, webisodes and the like. Once they're approved I'll link to them here, probably next week or the week after. One of them is really cool, because the music syncs up exactly with the watermark!

Finished a New Track

I just finished another new track this morning. This one is a bouncy, happy retro track that vaguely resembles an iconic television theme song from the 1960s. I've uploaded it to Pond5 where it awaits curation approval.

Meanwhile, I may have another sale, which would be nice because "payday" is Monday the 15th, and every little bit helps. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has bought or considered my music for your projects.

A Mystery Suspense Theme

Here's an electronic piece, punctuated by deep echoed drums. This could be used as a theme or background for a mystery or suspense project, or for your occult-based reality show.

Quiet Inspiration

Here's a recent addition to my portfolio that features a delayed harp over a bed of electronics with choral highlights. It's bright, cheerful and uplifting, a great choice for commercial or corporate motivational applications in your media projects.

In the Pipeline: April 5

I just uploaded a new track to Pond5. This one is a little different from previous tracks I've done. It has a pretty little melody on flute, accompanied by harpsichord and cello in the style of a late Renaissance or Baroque continuo. It's not really a period piece, though. The melody is a bit more modern. I'll try to post it here, maybe next week, so you can judge for yourself.

Also, I just completed a new track I call "Smooth Muted Trumpet." This one features a muted trumpet in a smooth jazz style to complement the best-selling (by my standards, at least) "Smooth Soprano Sax." I hope to upload that one tomorrow and present it here, also next week if all goes well.

An Impish Introduction

Here's a very short piece that evokes mischief and mayhem.

You can add this little piece to your stock music library today, royalty-free!

Speaking of mischief and mayhem, after yesterday's post my referral spam traffic went through the roof. I suppose I should have known better than to anger the spam mafia. "God, grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change . . ."

From Russia, With Spam

I'm getting a lot of traffic from Russia today. There are a bunch of reference links to a site that says it's soe sort of Internet movie site. And in case I don't open the long link, there are short links that - surprise! - point to the same place. There's a really neat service I found at longurl.org that will expand short links without actually opening the linked page so you can see what it is before you open it. That's a good thing because with some of these sites getting spammed is the least of your worries.

спасибо, но нет спасибо

Another Sale and Other Updates

I got another sale on Pond5, this one my "Ambient Ominous" underscore track.

Thanks to all my buyers!

Meanwhile, I uploaded a new track this morning. This one is a "heroic action" theme. And I have another one ready to upload that is a solo harp with lots of ambient reverb. It has a sort of mysterious, supernatural flavor to it. I'll be posting these here over the coming days and weeks, or you can check out my portfolio any time by clicking the appropriate links above. Thanks for reading!
